# Use WorldWide Telescope to see the Moon without space travel…

### July 20, 2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11’s historic landing on Earth’s Moon.

*In WorldWide Telescope, you can **visit the Moon** in context in “**Solar System**” mode, or see what the Apollo astronauts saw on their various missions to the Moon during the 1960s and 1970s, in “**Panorama**” mode.*

Excerpts from this "50 Years after Apollo" WWT-based video are featured in the 18 July 2019 [Harvard Gazette Article on Apollo 11](https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/?p=280918).

**For a bit more interactivity, consider these WWT options...**.

- [**TRAVEL THROUGH THE SOLAR SYSTEM TO THE MOON**](https://tinyurl.com/WWTMoon) (then pan, zoon, and explore at will!)
- [**LOOK AROUND AT THE APOLLO 11 LANDING SITE**](https://tinyurl.com/WWT-Apollo11-Pano) *(& please be patient--sometimes it takes a while to get to the Moon, and just dismiss any error messages you see if you don't use Google Chrome)*
- [watch this video](https://youtu.be/fDLwkG1Dpcc) to learn how to **SEE OTHER APOLLO LANDING SITES,** starting out at [worldwidetelescope.org](http://worldwidetelescope.org)

If you are an **EDUCATOR** who would like great curriculum materials for teaching your students about the Phases of the Moon, check out the resources [here](/moon-phases).

**BONUS:** Here's our favorite (non-WWT) YouTube video, by David Woods, called **"Apollo 11: The Complete Descent."**
